[horde] mysql horde database/concurrent installations

I am currently using horde 2.2.3 and imp and other.

I am trying to install the HEAD version of these programs but 
I can not delete the old ones until the new ones are working.  So, 
I'm thinking that it would be best to create a separate 
database with mysql_create.sql.

Is this is the best approach when trying to keep a working 
version while bringing up a new one?  If not, what did you do?

Please advise.
