Just wanted to say that I decided to stick it out with dovecot. I got on 
their mailing list and with a small tweak in the dovecot.conf file imp 
is working 100% again. It simply needed to know where to look for user 
mbox's (~/mail in my case).

Cyprus looked VERY cool, but more of a learning curve and more than I 
need for a small site like mine.
