[horde] Forums portal block

Hi guys

Im running an old-ish (maybe a month or 2) nightly snapshot of horde
and a bunch of modules.

I currently have a bug where creating an empty forum will throw
errors on the client, but I guess if I upgrade thatll disappear.

My real question surrounds the portal block for the forum - when I
create forums as children of other forums, the block appears to show
them in vaguely random order and not grouped with the parent.

Has anyone patched this in the last couple of months, and if not,
what is the best way to set myself up (with cvs, rsync, whatever) so
I can produce a patch and submit it? Do I branch on my own cvs
server, create the patch, sync from hordes cvs and then merge my
branch and produce the patch?

Im a bit of a cvs noob, but Id like to figure it out since we might
be producing a horde module for a client and any core fixes we
produce we'd like to submit obviously. Im a bit vague as to how
people produce patches against an up to date CVS mirror, when the
mirroring itself apparently would blow away your changes?

ps. Has anyone made a shoutbox style portal block yet? I cant see
anything in CVS, so Im really asking if anyone knows of any 3rd party
stuff.

Thanks for a wonderful product guys.
