[horde] Fullname hook help

Can anyone give me a hand w/ the LDAP fullname hook?
Basically, what I am looking to do is to have horde pull the full name from and
ldap entry called "displayName"  I tried fooling with the fullname hook
documented in hooks.php, but could not get it to work.  What are the steps to
get hooks to work properly?  Maybe I am doing this wrong.
