I know what you mean about the IMAP delete flag. The problem is that our
current Horde which was setup long before I was hired and was setup the way
I described. I would prefer not to change the way the users are currently
working. Thanks for the help!

normal IMAP behavior is to set delete flag and item is deleted when purge is
selected. That is the method of using IMAP per rfc and virtually all IMAP
clients respect that.
If you wish to go against the standards and have it your way - see
horde/imp/config/prefs - but I would recommend against it. Only someone that
doesn't understand IMAP would ask the question.
