[horde] lots of login/logouts to imap

courier-imap 4.0.2 (used for auth service)

Is it "normal" for horde/imp to generate a LOT of login/logout events 
for the imap daemon to service?  I'm seeing 3-4 during initial login, 
one for every app, folder, and message open.  Do I have something 
misconfigured? I thought Horde made use of persistant connections 
somehow.  Seems like this would create a scalability issue.
