[horde] "Kolab-format" PIM data storage without Kolab?

Is there any way to have Horde store the PIM data in a kolab-friendly 
way in an IMAP server without actually having Kolab installed?  I'm 
looking at the SyncKolab extension for Thunderbird 
(http://www.gargan.org/extensions/synckolab.html) and am thinking it 
would go great with Horde, giving you the ability to sync all data 
between the desktop (Thunderbird) and server (Horde).  Am I chasing up 
the wrong tree?
