Hi Otto,
actually i never wanted to have write access to the config file but copied
and pasted the config output. Seems to me the same result.
The setting as you mentioned I already had in the config file.
Actually I changed nothing in the config file but changed in imapd.conf to
virtdomain: yes (for other reasons in other programs), so username format
changed from user.domain.com to user at domain.com
And automagically some problems I had were away. So website loaded without
errors and my settings no get saved.
Hope this helps anybody else in the future
Bye Bernhard (sorry for forgetting giving my realname)

Hello gentoo,
you have written:

...

config,

You change this via the Horde/Administation/setup menu: Choose
"Horde", then "Database"; now fill in the "Internally used charset"
field. (Savest to specify utf-8, so you will be able to store any
string a user may later supply.) Finally, hit the "Generate Horde
configuration" button.
Of course, your WWW server, e. g. Apache, needs write access
to both horde/config/conf.php and horde/config/conf.php.bak.
Good luck,
Otto Stolz
Hello Chuck,
perhaps, it would be a good idea to re-phrase the error messages
referring to the config/conf.php files in terms of the pertinent
Horde/Adminstration/Setup sub-menus.
Best wishes,
Otto Stolz
