[horde] Some emails causing blank (white/empty) inbox--messages dissappear - until those messages are deleted (Horde3/IMP)

Description of problem:
It seems that certain emails trigger this problem. When looking at the
inbox, no messages appear, but it still shows that there are emails (e.g.
showing 1 - 10 of 1000).
Paging works in that if you visit another (e.g. 11 - 20 of 1000) where
there are none of these emails are displayed, then the inbox shows the
emails normally.
By turning the paging down to display 1 email per page, I discovered that
certain emails seem to be tied to this problem. As I navigate to a
problematic email, it goes blank, but all the other emails are fine.
There are some other issues going on, but will list those separately (not
sure if related)
I believe this problem is related to my particular setup/configuration.

Recent changes made:
Upgraded to latest version of Horde3.
We did upgrade to the latest PHP, but that seem to have other problems, so
we rolled back.

Configuration:
   freebsd 6.2, apache 1.3.37, php 5.1.6, mysql 4.1.22

Severity/coverage:
It affects several accounts and seems to be solely caused by certain
emails:
Emails do not have problems with Thunderbird, Outlook, or other desktop
clients. If I delete using IMAP, then all is fixed in the webmail.
I did have one similar report of this long before the upgrade, but not
sure if it was the same problem. I had her just download her email via POP
and was working again (I assumed malformed emails).

Recognized patterns:
I discovered that the main differnece between these faulty emails and the
working ones is that the subject line for the bad emails look like this:

	Subject:
=?ISO8859-1?Q?Your_enrollment_in_ClientLine=AE_is_approved?=
	Subject: =?koi8-r?B?8NLJyM/EydTF?=

As you can see, the extra characters such as the equals sign "=" , the
question mark "?" and the encoding type
I realize that both of these samples are SPAM. Perhaps bad SPAM is part
of the problem.

Full email headers follow form two sample problem emails (actual domain
anmes have been changed to protect the innocent). If you need samples of
working emails, I can send those too.
