Yes resolved the issue- permission of the temp folder was changed during a
UPS driver install, reset permissions and wallah!, thanks all.

You must have changed something because by default SME server /tmp is
writeable
The permissions for /tmp should be:

Dear friend,
Iam using dovecot version 1.0.7- imap .
Mail accounts are stored in mysql database.I can run the imap server by
using telnet localhost 143 The problem is-if i try with a user in the mysql
database, it shows No authentication error.But when is telnet by using a
system user, it shows ok .So i though that it was using the LDAP(am i
right).
So i changed the dovecot.conf file and included the dovecot-sql.txt (using
sql queries from table user).But afterwards i cant login the Horde.(Failed
login in line 164of "/var/www/html/horde/login.php") CAn you pls explain the
hordes flow for example-when you login first checking goes to dovecot-then
postfix then goes to mysql etc (i dont know the exact procedure) I mean the
step by step process so that I can debug easily.
i followed the how to from hordes site

but it doesnt say about dovecot,postfix configuration in detail.
Also i would like to know more abt horde Administrator gui configuration.

Did you mean that you can login to the IMAP server via telnet using an
account in the MySQL database? If YES, then your IMAP server is
running OK, otherwise you have to fix the IMAP configuration first.

No, you may have to configure LDAP in dovecot if you want to use LDAP.
otherwise it uses system users(AFAIK)

Step 1:
Run http://<yourdomain>/horde/test.php and check whether if you have
any critical errors. If you have any critical errors, fix them before
you proceed.
Step 2:
Run http://<yourdomain>/horde/imp/test.php and do the tests provided.
If you have any critical errors, fix them before you proceed.
Step 3:
Now complete Horde installation and configure it. The most important
sections are the *General*, *Database* and *Authentication*.
Step 4:
In the *General* section, you have to specify the administrators for
your Horde instance. Add one of the users from your IMAP user
database(I assume it's a MySQL database) to $conf[auth][admins].
Step 5:
Now move on to *Authentication* part and select *IMAP Authentication*
from the drop down labelled $conf[auth][driver].
Step 6:
Save the configuration, and login using the admin account you provided
in Step 4. You should be able to login now.
