No, just wondering if you used the command option --no-compendium or -n.

Check with "locale -a" and "locale" commands to see if you are using  
fr_FR or en_US (en_US.iso88591) in your system (LANG=fr_FR or  
LANG=en_US). On Debian use "dpkg-reconfigure locales" to setup  
languages and the default language. Can you write "écrit" on your  
system console?

What I did today to translate some IMP customization was:

cd /var/www/horde/po
./translation.php update -m imp -l pt_BR -n
cd /var/www/horde/imp/po
cp imp.pot pt_BR
Edit imp/po/pt_BR.po
cd /var/www/horde/po
./translation.php make -m imp -l pt_BR -n

Don't forget to give permission to your web server user:
chown -R www-data /var/www/horde
where www-data is the user and /var/www/horde is the Horde directory.
Restart your web server deamon.
