Dear Spyros,

just backing up horde could be done by i.e:
 - i.e. tar horde directory
 - mysqldump the MySQL databases
 - if you use SIEVE or other external filtering you may backup the filters too

if you safely want to upgrade, you can do something like
 - move your old horde dir into i.e. horde.old (or use symlinks here)
 - dump the sql database
 - if Required, tar filter scripts
 - unpack new horde version to the place
 - run the sql updates
 - run other update scripts if required (see readme / update docs)
 - copy your old config files into new hordes config dirs
 - open horde -> admin in browser and go through the configurations (at least just save it again to make shure possibly new required options are set)

(you may run the test script to check if all new dependencies are met)

Good luck,

Niels.
