FWIW my (no probs with speed) setup is with Horde 4 running on CentOS 5.6 running as a Xen virtual machine. PHP is 5.2.10. The IMAP host (Cyrus) runs on a separate VM on the same physical server, which has a Core2Duo processor. Auth is via LDAP. User count is low though, only family. Total mailstore size is about 4GB. The Horde server also runs APC to cache. Website responsiveness is excellent.
