That's been there since the original Motorola Droid - and I believe
that's the device it refers to.

Then don't get it.  2.3 is OLD.  Get the Samsung Galaxy Prime with 4.0

If you're changing from iOS, I can pretty much guarantee you a better
phone.  Not to start a phone flame war, but if you're a dev the
Android is more suited to you immediately.  Get it.  Any one.  You'll
be surprised how much you like it.
