[horde] Question regarding horde_prefs and the data within.

In previous versions of Horde it's been possible to insert/modify the userdata in horde_prefs (table horde_prefs, pref_scope: horde, pref_name: identities) directly through own scripts aso.

My question is, now that the data is binary - blob, is it possible to edit this identity data anymore through some some API in Horde or? It's been really nice to have had the possibility to set/edit the name and email address of the user automatically so that they have the right address from the-get-go.
