I had one feedback of a user running the 3.x extension with PHP 7.x. 
Went to me directly so I won't disclose the original mail.

This would make the case for the PeclHttp2 backend to be ported as it 
still seems to be compatible.

As I understand it, the unnamespaced peclhttp (1) backend would not make 
sense to support for a future horde release.
