[horde] ActiveSync testing latest release

Hi Brent & Mike, Hi All,

I had a productive session today. Indeed that was a bug in the email handling.
But not a typo one, but a severe architectural one, affecting the sync stability in all ActiveSync protocol versions with emails.

I had the same symptoms in my test as I used my live account with 15GB mail data. It ended up in syncing loops, unresponsive/crashing iOS mail app and creating tons of logs.

Especially on initial syncs with large boxes new emails may arrive while syncing, but also with larger imap operations causing batched ActiveSync changes, the old code ended up in MODSEQ changes on imap level not properly digested in ActiveSync causing endless loops. Those created high load and unresponsive email app on the mobile devices, no progress in sync and tons of logs on the server side.
The load on the device might also make the download of contacts etc. very slow, so please retry for contacts, calendar, notes, tasks and emails separately.

Also stalling the sync process can be caused by larger, imap operations causing batched ActiveSync changes as described by Brent.

after my fix, my iPhone behaves well now. I would like to get your feedback, also Android I cannot test .

the PR is: https://github.com/horde/ActiveSync/pull/41, it will be reviewed in the next days by Ralf. I would appreciate if one of you dares to switch the installation from -dev-FRAMEWORK_6_0 to the branch in the PR - just for horde/ActiveSync. That is enough to test my fixes.

please ensure, that if you proceed testing, disable the account on your mobile device, reset the ActiveSync state in the ActiveSync admin page for that device and then enable step by step the different parts of ActiveSync: contact, calendar, notes, tasks and email.

Looking forward for your feedback and thanks for helping!

Torben

14.1 seems to be stable on the current compost build; well, as stable as it has been. I dunno if there's changes in the latest codebase for 14.1 or not.

There are occasions where if/when the user makes a LOT of changes to their mail folders (creating new folders, moving folders, renaming a bunch..all in the web ui), then sometimes I need to remove and re-add the setup on the phone as it stops syncing for some reason. I've not debugged it as it happens infrequently and is easy to just reconfigure the phone.
