memory problem and performance

Hi,
Last december I have installed IMP 2.0.11 in my firm.
One people there is two day wrote that : 
IMP have a RAM consume between 10  - 12K by connection

But in my system is ~500 k by connection. And I have 
some problem whith the imap connection because not all 
the memory is free when the connection is close.

Is there someone who have the same problem? And what do 
you do?
