apache crashes when trying to open email with 15mb attachment through IMP

i dont know which package is causing the problem, but thought i'd let you
know.
when trying to open an email with 15mb zip file attached here is what
appears in apache_error_log:
bunch of these:
apache in free(): warning: recursive call.
apache in free(): warning: recursive call.
apache in free(): warning: recursive call.
apache in free(): warning: recursive call.
apache in free(): warning: recursive call.


apache in malloc(): warning: recursive call.
apache in malloc(): warning: recursive call.

couple of these:
apache in free(): warning: apache in free(): warning: chunk is already free.

and this message to root:

this however does kill apache, but kills IMAP abilities till apache restart

what do you guys think of it?
i am using IMP 2.2.3 (i think, but not sure, how can i check? it could be
very possibly 2.2.2 but not other)
