shared memory vs mysql

Folks,

is there any advice on which of the above is best for session control
in horde-1.2.3/imp-2.2.3? The platform I am currently configuring is 
an Ultra 5 with 0.5GB of memory running Solaris 8.

apache_1.3.14
mysql-3.22.32
