The UW ipop3d does (part of the UW IMAP package). I have the same kind
of errors here, but they do not prevent anything from working. Just some
noise in the log files. PHP IMAP package relies on c-client library,
which in turns seems to use (or try to use) a few UW-isms. Hence the
AUTH.

That's my understanding of the issue, anyway.

I don't understand why it would cause your login to fail, tough. It
might even be unrelated.
