[imp] newmail_popup not working

I see and, thank you for that.  it seems the focus it so much on 2.3 I may
as well leave well enough alone and wait for the next tagged stable version.
If I try to fix this any further I may mess up the entire web-server.  I had
no clue msie had a broken http/1.1 and was beating a dead horse for over a
week.

I'm not trying to go there again.
