Sorry, no chance since it's a web system used by 70000 users and I don't
feel like doing anything with the production server. Setting up a dev
replica of the server at weekend, then will do whatever debuggin you want me
to :)

Aha, a reproducible case.  Any chance you could attach a gdb process to both
of those, and get backtraces, and we can compare the differences?  Also,
opening a report at bugs.php.net would probably be good.  If this is
affecting PHP-4.0.5RC3, we should fix it real soon.
