Connection failed to localhost.localdomain,143

I searched the archive and found a couple other people with a similar
problem but no solution was mentioned. I can get logged into IMP and do a
few thiings but I am quickly returned to the login screen and apache logs
this error:

<b>Warning</b>:  Connection failed to localhost.localdomain,143:
Connection timed out (errflg=2) in
<b>/usr/local/apache/htdocs/horde/lib/horde.lib</b> on line <b>0</b><br>

I am running the Courier IMAP server only on localhost and have IMP
configured to look there. I've doublechecked my defaults.php3 file and
everything looks correct.  Relevant parts of defaults.php3:

/* Server Specific Configuration */
$default->localhost                      = 'localhost';

/* Default IMAP Server Configuration */
$default->server                         = 'localhost';
$default->from_server                    = 'ultraviolet.org';
$default->port                           = '143';

It is very odd that it allows me to log in and do a few things (sometimes
read one message, sometimes read 3 or 4, never consistant) and then I get
loggedout out with that error logged by apache. I just logged into mysql
with the horde username and pass and found 79 active sessions in the
active_sessions table. Probably once for every time I've logged in and
been ejected. Any suggestions?

IMP looks like a very slick package and I look forward to getting it
working properly.
