Hello tracy, i suggest you to try set the IMAP server to the name of the server,
not the loopback interface (localhost) for example   yourmachine.yourdomain.com

You're going to have to provide more details, such as what version of IMP you're
using. If it's 2.3.x, then this is the known behavior with preferences; we're
still working out how to provide a way around it.
