another horde/imp like solution

I dont mean to offend but is there any other solution for web based email 
for the linux platform?

Check your sql logs, etc.  You may also have an old database schema.

If you have the latest CVS code, edit your horde/config/registry.php file and 
set IMP to be the Authentication controller for Horde.  You should see to lines 
that are commented out, uncomment them: 

$this->registry['auth']['login'] = 'imp'; 
$this->registry['auth']['logout'] = 'imp';
