The issue was that the server var for Configuration File Path was set to /usr/local/lib. There was no php.ini in /usr/local/lib. Thank you for the reminder to use test.php3. It was invaluable in trouble shooting the problem. Problem solved. I promise not to cry wolf again. Chris
