maximum number of contacts

hi there,

 my system runs imp 2.2.5/horde 1.2.5/mysql3-22-32.  my question is what is the 
maximum number of contact for each user.  i dont use ldap.  where is it 
stored?  think not with the users folder?  please advice me.
