Did you restart apache after make? I don't know why but that fixed this 
behaviour for me, when I had the same problems.

msgmerge merges the actual message.po file with current translation. If it 
doesn't find a matching translation because of a new gettext string, it does a 
fuzzy search to find a similar translation. With more or less success! ;-)
Just edit msgstr after those fuzzy lines or leave it as it is if msgmerge did a 
good job and remove the fuzzy line. If there's also a c-format entry as in your 
2nd example remove only the fuzzy part, not the whole line.

There's the same problem in German, you have create VERY strange sentence 
constructions to get a almost useful translation.

I just changed the code in cvs to use c-format gettext strings, that should at 
least make the translation a bit easier. But be careful: You still have to use 
the placeholders in the same order as in the original string.
