Frankly, you should spend more time learning about how your system
works than writing reams of documentation complaining about it.

Or better yet, learn how your system works, and then write reams
of documentation about how it works, since you seem to like writing
reams of documentation :-) 

IMP-2.2 was fairly complicated to install; hopefully 2.4 will
address some of these issues (no more PHPlib, hurrah!).  One of
the approaches to UNIX sysadminning I greatly dislike is people
blindly installing software packages without understanding how
they tie in together.  How do you plan to maintain this system?

If you don't WANT to maintain it, then why not just grab 
something like the e-smith server, which takes care of all these
details for you?

One thing that would probably be useful is a "big picture"
document of how all of the IMP components tie in to each other.
Any volunteers to write this up?
