automatically appending a default domain name to unqualified addresses?

hey guys -

imp 2.3.7 question... is there any mechanism to get IMP to automatically append
$servers['servername']['maildomain'] to unqualified email addresses?

we're looking to migrate to IMP 2.3.7 from Silkymail, and we've got a lot of
users who only type in "liamr, jsmith, xena" and such on the "To:" line.. and
currently, if I try to send mail to "liamr" (instead of "liamr@umich.edu), it
trys to deliver it to liamr@localhost.  I realize there are things we could do
in our sendmail.cf, but I don't think we want to assume all mail sent on those
machine was intended for username@umich.edu
