[imp] Updating Pear on a RH7.2 system

Ty Christensen webmaster@mastermindpro.com
Sun, 4 Nov 2001 23:13:04 -0800

As pertaining to your question, my web server does know what page to go
to...and I can type in the full path as well with the same results. I guess
my question is, what files do I have to specify parameters for to get Imp to
work?

At this point, I don't mind what auth method I use...I just want to try
things out. I am aware that Imp can do Horde auth, but like I said before,
I didn't think that would help much considering that I can't even get to any
Imp page. Maybe it's a vicious circle. :^)

Thanks for the info on the passwords in MySQL...I thought that might have
been the case.

Later,
Ty

This probably means you have a path wrong somewhere. Does your webserver
know
what page is being requested?

You won't be able to log in to IMP without either logging in to Horde first,
or
using IMP to do Horde authentication. Otherwise it will redirect you to
Horde's
login screen, which is what it sounds like it is trying to do.

You need to run them through the md5() function.

Either you need a new PEAR:
  http://www.horde.org/pear/

... or the Auth library isn't able to connect to the database, and I missed
something in the error reporting.

This is fixed now in cvs.

It is the case with the drop down box. Or do you mean the text string if
the sent mail preference is locked?

If you are not logged in to Horde, IMP will redirect you to the Horde login
screen. This doesn't appear to work for you, but if you set IMP up to do Horde
auth, then IMP will instead give you a login screen, which almost certainly
will give you, at the least, a _different_ problem. It might even work. :)

The text string, if the option to dynamically choose the sent-mail folder is
turned off (i.e., identities might have different sent-mail folders, but you
can't select a different one in the compose window).

This is impractical without a java applet, hidden frame, or something else
which would quickly get ugly. Also, it'd be very hard to guarantee a decent
response time.

> 2) when you click on 'expand names' expand all the names that are still

Right.

How do you warn people about sending messages to people that don't match in
their addressbook?

It would be good to run expand names on send, automatically, also.

I guess I'm coming to the conclusion that there should be a two preferences to
control all this:

1. Do OR Do Not run Expand Names when I click Send.

2. When I click Send, tack the default domain onto all unqualified addresses OR
make me qualify all addresses.

Would that satisfy people?

What are you using to see the number of connections? Do you have every folder
set to check for new mail? Does it happen every time you click folders, or only
the first (and when you click refresh)?
