Some of my users seem to find IMP not very productive when compared to a fully
fledge email client. One reason is the standard 3 pane view that one can have in
traditional email clients. 

I understand the reasons why the IMP UI is the way it is. However adding the
ability to open a new window (settable as a user based preference) when reading
an email, would go a long way to winning those users over.
