[imp] speed issues

David,

Have you tried placing all DNS names referenced in your 
IMP/Horde/Turba/Gollem/Kronolith into your /etc/hosts file??  Name resolution 
would be my first guess....   I am running my installation on a 5+ year old AMD 
K6/200 with a mere 128MB of RAM, and it's fast (other than when it tries to 
invoke the mime-driver to read HTML files).
