imp imap/ssl authentication

Hi,

I've installed php 4.1.1, horde-2.0-RC4, and imp-3.0-RC4.  I've
compiled php with imap and imap-ssl support. I've configured horde to
use imp for authentication. My imp servers.php contains:

$servers['_prompt'] = array(
    'name' => 'Choose a mail server:'
);

$servers['imap'] = array(
    'name' => 'Pagoda IMAP Server',
    'server' => 'localhost',
    'protocol' => 'imap',
    'port' => 143,
    'folders' => 'mail/',
    'namespace' => '',
    'maildomain' => 'mtholyoke.edu',
    'smtphost' => 'localhost',
    'realm' => '',
    'preferred' => ''
);

$servers['imap/ssl'] = array(
   'name' => 'Pagoda IMAP SSL Server',
   'server' => 'localhost',
   'protocol' => 'imap/ssl/novalidate-cert',
   'port' => 993,
   'folders' => 'mail/',
   'namespace' => '',
   'maildomain' => 'mtholyoke.edu',
   'smtphost' => 'localhost',
   'realm' => '',
   'preferred' => ''
);

If I use the IMAP server, I can log in o.k. If I use the ssl server,
I cannot. After attempting to use the ssl server, I cannot go back
and use the non-ssl server either.

I do have a working IMAP/SSL server - I use it a great deal. I am
using the following Red Hat UW-IMAP packages:

imap-devel-2000c-10
imap-2000-8

My horde.log file doesn't give me any information, however
/var/log/secure tells me:

Jan  3 11:10:47 pagoda xinetd[846]: START: imaps pid=23686 from=127.0.0.1

So the server is being contacted, but then the conversation times out.

So I guess I should conclude with a question. Umm, what should I do?

I use Debian Woody (3.0 prerelease)

nope .. LANG is the right variable in my case, but it seems, that LANG is
ignored on the console if LC_MESSAGES is set to something else (which clearly
somehow is correct)
So setting LANG is not allways enough, to get it working on the console. Maybe
this should get mentioned in the debug-stuff.
