Subject: imp 3.0 final, odd login behavior
While using the final release RPMS of horde 2.0, IMP 3.0 and Turba 1.0 on a
RH7.2 machine, I am getting this error the first time I try to log in to IMP:
Warning: Retrying LOGIN authentication after AUTHENTICATE LOGIN failed
(errflg=1) in Unknown on line 0
The error message is displayed twice followed by a login failure message. I'm
given a "log on to mail" link. If I click that link and log in on the
resulting screen I am able to access IMP. At this point everything seems to
work fine, including preference and contact/Turba access via pgsql.
In case it matters, I have auth login and logout using IMP enabled in
horde/config/registry.php. horde is specified as the DocumentRoot of the
server and appropriate Alias entries have been made in httpd.conf to map
/horde/, /imp/ and /turba/ properly.
horde.log shows the following entries: Jan 04 18:29:09 HORDE [error] [imp]
FAILED LOGIN xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx to imap.mydomain.com:143[imap] as username [on
line 332 of "/var/www/html/horde/imp/lib/IMP.php"] Jan 04 18:29:51 HORDE
[notice] [imp] Login success for username [xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx] to
{imap.mydomain.com:143} [on line 51 of "/var/www/html/horde/imp/redirect.php"]
In the log file, xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx shows my client machine's IP address, username
shows my imap user name and, of course, imap.mydomain.com shows my imap
server's name.
I saw messages about similar problems posted to the mailing list over the past
week or so but none of the suggestions have helped. Any ideas about this?

Subject: Re: [imp] Spellcheck Window problem in 3.0 cvs
Jon,
I am fine with the time it took to complete the spell check (with the exact
reason you presented), but I was complaining about the observation that the
user couldn't do anything in his other IMP window, either. As I said, during
the spell check, no operations can be performed with that PHP session (no
mailbox refresh, no going into options, no going into addressbook and etc).
However, I could login on a seperate window and could do anything I want on
that session.
I asked if that was a bug just in case the program was designed to function in
that fashion (i.e. single task/operation at any given time within the same
session). So, was that the intent of the development team to induce this
behaviour??

Christopher Lee
