Changing password online depend on what method you are using for
managing your users no?
I think it's very difficult to build a general solution.

The versions we have been talking about lately on the list is a module
for IMP 3.x only.  

For IMP 2.2.x, I believe IMP came with a poppassd.php3 module, but it
wasn't
enabled.  In this case, you would edit horde/imp/config/defaults.php3 to
configure it.  I don't remember having to do anything else other than 
configure it, and in particular don't remember having to add/download
any
files -- it was all I believe included in the default IMP install.

There should be a ton of stuff about this in the old archives and/or
faq.
