[imp] Patch to open messages in separate window

Hi,
We first downloaded imp.diff and tried to run it but
it does nothing and hangs
[root@ns2 horde]# patch imp.diff
then we tried the following
[root@ns2 horde]# patch < imp.diff
This worked ok and brought me back to the hash prompt.
But i m not able to open message by clicking on it in
new window. It is still opening in the same window.
Then i downloaded another patch Imp_203.1-cvs.diff
and tried the same with the following results.
[root@ns2 horde]# patch < Imp_203.1-cvs.diff
(Stripping trailing CRs from patch.)
can't find file to patch at input line 6
Perhaps you should have used the -p or --strip option?

Perhaps you should have used the -p or --strip option?

File to patch:
When we specify the file it creates some rejection
file with the above errors and asks again for the file
to patch.
But when i tried
[root@ns2 horde]# patch -po < Imp_203.1-cvs.diff
it shows me that 1 out of three hunk failed.
kindly suggest what to do.
