PEAR using too much memory?

Same old story:
When someone tries to attach a large file, he runs into PHP's memory_limit.

Now you have two options:
- - decrease upload_max_filesize
- - increase memory_limit

This has been discussed here previousely, but what I'm interrested in:

What's going on here? I Increased the memory limit to 64 MB but still
cannot attach 6 MB files ...

You need Solaris' gettext but the Makefiles in the last release don't work 
with this gettext distribution. You can grab newer Makefiles from 
http://cvs.horde.org/ or search the archive for a message the explains how 
to call msgfmt on Solaris correctly.
