[imp] Server "namespace" not hiding INBOX. when creating folders

Seems like an arbitrary requirement. Why not just see if they are equal? I
can't be the only person running with this setup. Am I mistaken in my
claim that all folders (other than shared folders) within Courier-IMAP must
be subfolders of the INBOX??? 

I'm not trying to be trouble, I really just want to understand this. I fully
understand what you both have said, and I'm not saying you're wrong about
how it works, I'm just saying "Why does it work that way?". Just curious.
