mail send problem in compose windows

Hello,

I got the following problem:

when i compose a mail (compose.php3), and fill in the fields, then I hit =
the send-button.=20
What happens is that he reloads compose.php3 again, but with blank =
fields, and no mail is send.

It used to work for around 3 months, but now suddenly not any more.
I'm working with imp version 2.2.7 on PHP 4.0.4

- safe_mode is off
- the php-command mail() works fine

can someone help me out of misery ?
