You obviously didn't read the po/README file. Just run make in the po 
folder, you don't have to put the .mo files anywhere. If you are running 
IMP 3.0 it might also help to upgrade to IMP 3.1RC2 because the po 
Makefiles and the README has slightly changed since then.
