[imp] SuSE 8.0 upgrade and IMAP issues solved? sorta

This is a multi-part message in MIME format.

---------------------- multipart/alternative attachment
Snip of previous post, answer of what I did follows.

I just upgraded to SuSE 8.0 and could not log into imp after that, I
searched the list and found the answer to that problem having to do with

$servers['imap'] = array(
    'name' => 'IMAP Server',
    'server' => 'localhost',
    'protocol' => 'imap/notls',
    'port' => 143,
    'folders' => 'mail/',
    'namespace' => '',
    'maildomain' => 'example.com',

It was trying to use ssl for some reason after the upgrade and the
/notls fixed my problem. Now I no longer have any subscribed folders, I
can click show unsubscribed and try to subscribe to them but it won't
let me. Here is the message when I try to resubscribe to drafts'

You were not subscribed to "drafts". Here is what the server said
:SUBSCRIBE failed: Can't append to subscription database

I tried to create a new folder called Test and here is the message that
I got for that,

 The folder "Test" was created but you were not subscribed to it.

After searching the lists I cannot find an answer to this one, does
anyone have any ideas for me?

After much searching with no luck as to why my imap was behaving this
way I finally decided to delete the user and then recreate the user
after backing up the home directory, figuring that the new imap would
work properly if it made its own folders. I then logged into imp as the
user that I recreated and every function worked just the way that it is
supposed to work. I could create folders and addresses now. Obviously
this is not an elegant solution nor would it be good for a multi user
system but it did work. For some reason the new imap could SEE the old
folders but it could not subscribe to them. I am in the process of
creating the old folders with the newly made user and copying the text
into them. Again a time consuming process but perhaps my success in
what I did will lead someone else with the same problem into discovering
a better way to fix this. Thinking back on it I should have just
deleted the /mail folder and saved myself a ton of time. Oh well
backups ARE for a reason :-)

Thanks to whoever suggested that it may be only an imap problem.
