[imp] HTML entities not correctly displayed

I have a friend that sends me email from a website on occasion and that site 
converts his chinese characters (in his name) into unicode html entites.  His 
name does not display correctly in IMP (I've only tested in Yahoo Mail other 
than IMP).

Is there a reason these characters are not displayed correctly?

Here is his "To" header: Todd Giles 賈文斌

Yahoo Mail displays these characters perfectly.
