I'm also seeing these since I went from php 4.1.2 to 4.2.2 with the
rpms from rpms.arvin.dk.

I was not seeing this with RH 6.1, Apache 1.3.*, and php 4.1.2 from
rpms.arvin.dk.  I starte seeing it as soon as I upgraded from 4.1.2 to
4.2.2 from rpms.arvin.dk.

No idea, but I've seen other reports of segfaults going away when using
--enable-debug.
