Could be. You might try the php 4.1.x rpms at
http://rpms.arvin.dk/php/rh72/i686/old/
as I've never had any problem with them. Don't use his 4.2.x rpms as they
have the seg fault problem (other than that they rock). Hopefully he'll
have 4.3 out soon...
