If you are looking for a mail program that will run on lynx or some other 
text-based equivalent... I think IMP became impractical for that a long 
time ago.

It wouldn't be that difficult to go through and remove all images on your 
local installation (just delete all Horde::img() function calls) if that is 
what you desire.
