erm.. this is getting interesting. after specifying 
$conf['filter']['driver'] = 'prefs'; (or 'none';). i took a user's prefs 
in the database, deleted them and cleaned out the horde.sessionhandler 
table, but with no avail. the problem is still the same. The logon screen 
comes up, username and password are entered, but the redirect seems to 
fail (even with this "virgin" user). It stops now on the 
index.php?url=login.php instead of the imp/redirect.php. so i am presuming 
i'm making a bit of progress.
