[imp] Problems Running IMP

I am running Redhat 8.0 pretty much out of the box... the kernel has not
been updated.
What is happening is that Horde will not let me log in. I am using IMAP
authentication. When I try, it just refreshes the screen, the password
box clears, and there are no error messages. If I modify the
registry.php to use IMP authentication, I get a white IMP page with
broken php code all over it and the login doesn't work at all. Horde
and IMP both pass all tests... I have a working imap installation that I
have tested several times both locally and over my network. I *think*
it has something to do with Horde and the imap server... IMP will not
pass the IMAP test and gives the following message: "Warning: Couldn't
open stream {localhost:143}INBOX in /var/www/html/horde/imp/test.php on
line 157" There are some other error messages, but this is the first
one and the others look about the same. I can post them if it would
help.
I downloaded source RPMs last time I installed and rebuilt them. Before
that I used the tarballs, but it doesn't seem to matter. The
installation has the same problems regardless of how I install it. I
have several working installations using Redhat 7.2, so I have set it up
successfully before.
I listed some information about my system below. If anyone has any idea
what is broke, please let me know. This is driving me nuts. Last time
installed Horde/IMP, it set up really easy, but this time it just don't
seem to want to work.
Thanks,
Gene Hurst
