[imp] pause with exchange-server

hi,

i just set up a debian-box with IMP and was able to connect to our
MS-Exchange-Server over IMAP immediately.

but i observe a pause about 10 seconds for every action i take. 
i watched traffic and after i opened an eMail for about 10sec it was
*quiet*. then it suddenly came.

any ideas what goes wrong here?
just read some threads about disabling fast-download or something with
attachment-icons?

but it also happens with mails without attachments. 
going back to main box takes another 10sec and so on.
